Spring-ish Daybook

Outside My Window.... Beautiful sunny, spring day, blue skies and puddles every where. And rabbits, they are everywhere, too.

I Am Thinking and praying for...Tristan and his safe return home! He's in homeschool classes with two of my kids.
It's been a week. I saw on FB they have a credible lead on him, praying he is safe. Praying for his mama's heart, too.

GREAT NEWS! I heard he has been found!!

I Am Thankful....for a great day filled with family fun, education, friendship and competition
Euly competed in the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo Wildlife habitat evaluation program contest for 4H. She did fantastic and their team won 3rd place in the senior division!  Great results for her first contest, thankful for her knowledgeable teammates and coach!
The competition was held on the T & M Cattle Ranch in Richmond, around 3400 acres of south Texas beauty. A beautiful tree tunnel entry, oaks and pecans everywhere, and we spotted two bald eagles up in a nest and on a limb.
I'm not sure where Euly placed, Travis placed 10th, John Philip placed 6th and the team was third overall in the senior division. Excellent especially for a three person team and Euly's first WHEP contest.

Meanwhile, Nick and Cecilia competed in the Texas state archery contest for 4H in Madisonville. They both improved their score over the distinct contest.
Cecilia hit a couple of bullseye, oops I mean "10x." Nick scored 515/600! His first year, he's determined.

I Am Going (went) ....back to Winklemann for a quick photo inspiration with Max to try out his camera and black and white film. He develops it himself, so hopefully I'll see pics soon.

The only inhabitant now, (that we saw).

Max likes to shoot black and white, all manual settings and develop the film himself, a dying art. This is one he texted me of our sheep:

I Am Watching...our baby chicks hatch from eggs! Three on Saturday, with pecks and moving other eggs. So much work they have to do by themselves. And out pops the cutest little ball of fluff. (Once it dries off). And, if that isn't enough excitement, Lilly and Craig bought 4 ducks at Tractor Supply.

 Adorable ness everywhere.
A total of 14 hatched over weekend, five more due today, four more in two weeks.

I Am Reading....Greek Myths by D'Aulaire to Ceci. What fun we've had fun looking for signs and examples of the myths still used today in art and stories through the centuries.

Around The House....getting the rest of the garden planted. A few starters still remain indoors until they look strong enough. We are trying distract and dissuade the peacocks from flying over into the garden. If the owl doesn't work,  I may have to order this:
Scarecrow motion detective animal repellent.

I Am Pondering....our one lone bluebonnet. Will there be more, or did the sheep just miss this one?

A Favorite Quote/ Prayer For The Day....
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

One Of My Favorite Things....starting Passiontide, the last two weeks of Lent. So much happening these next two weeks. We will redouble our efforts, and try to keep focused on Christ's Passion. It is so easy to be distracted with the busyness of homeschooling, projects and springtime.
When the statues are veiled in purple cloth, it gets my attention at mass and fills me with a sense of excitement that the Lenten journey is almost over. Much still to ponder and meditate with Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Easter Vigil before we celebrate Easter with family.
Our small parish has our biannual confirmation Tuesday. Weird timing during Lent, but we are blessed. Since we are still in the building phase and still are being hosted by the largest parish in Houston, (which is busy and was booked the night our confirmation was scheduled,) Cardinal Di Nardo invited us to the CoCathedral where he will officiate in Latin. All are invited (Tuesday at 7:00 pm). As Ccd coordinator, there are always last minute preparations to get stressed over, but we're praying to the Holy Spirit to bless these candidates and all youth seeking Christ.

A Few Plans For This Week....school, friend visits, Molly visit, our parish Confirmation, maybe a hair cut for me, help my niece with her wisdom teeth extraction, and some days we're going to slow down and enjoy at home.

  2. Oh how scary that the young man is missing! I've been hearing so many awful pieces of news lately. Terribly sad stuff.

Congrats on the winners. Their time and hard work is paying off, hopefully inspiring to do more.

Wishing you a peaceful last two weeks of lent. I'm hunkering down as well.

  4. Children are not able to teach well with rules, the rules will always be forgotten them. Once the culture after a successful diet, they do not need the aid of memory, it can easily play a role in the natural.
