Celebrating a quick rain shower

It's been too long without rain that we could feel it stirring before we saw the clouds gather. Wind picked up and blew feed bags across the yard. Large sections of the sky filled with grey masses heavy with rain. Thunder rolled. The chickens had already gone for cover due to the heat of the day. The dogs grew restless and the cat fled under the house. We waited.

With a metal roof, we can hear it almost before we see the rain.
It pounded.

Lilly and I rushed to the porch, our a favorite spot to watch the rain where we stay dry.

Then it stopped just as if an angel turned off the faucet.

Step One of trying to teach Hope she is in fact not human, but animal:
she (reluctantly) hangs out on porch with dogs.

Lilly thought Hope should stay inside after the storm.
I think we should rename her Ragdoll.

  1. Oh my gosh! What adorable "kids" and I love how you capture the rain. I could just hear it through the images!
