Marian Feast Day: Immaculate Conception

Happy Feast of the Immaculate Conception!

GRADUAL ¤ Judith 13. 23
Blessed art thou, O Virgin Mary, by the Lord the most high God, above all women upon the earth.4 V.: Thou art the glory of Jerusalem, thou art the joy of Israel, thou art the honor of our people.
   Alleluia, alleluia.
V.: (Canticles 4. 7) Thou art all fair, O Mary, and there is in thee no stain of original sin.

Our parish celebrated this special Marian feast today, of Mary's conception without original sin, with a party. The three younger CCD class children led everyone in song, Immaculate Mary, followied with delicious cake and cookies.

Beautiful miraculous medal artwork supplied by my First Communion class

Have you heard the FREE Christmas Hymns and Songs sung by the Dominican Sisters of St.Cecilia (Nathville Dominicans)? I received an email about it, and was invited to share with you.
Did I mention this beautiful music is FREE? Go here.

Father scheduled interviews with the kids to test confirmation readiness. Some nervous teens awaiting their turn were quizzing each other on various points: who is our bishop? what was Pope Francis's name before he become pope? And one ask another to recite the Angelic Salutation. He panicked and said he was so nervous he could only recite the Hail Mary and the other kids giggled. (In his defense, we didn't think about the prayer also titled that way until recently).

Angel Gabriel's Angelic Salutation:
Luke Chapter 1
26 And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,
27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Pray for us, Mary, Mother of God, now and the hour of our death. Amen.
