7 Friday Quick Takes

Friday, August 2

Two great reasons to attend mass today:

1. It is a First Friday
keep the novena of receiving Holy Communion going in honor of Jesus' Sacred Heart...

and

2.
Read about it and how St. Francis brought about this special indulgence.
(The following is an excerpt from:
the Major Life of St. Francis by St. Bonaventure.)
" The Portiuncula was an old church dedicated to the Virgin Mother of God which was abandoned . Francis had great devotion to the Queen of the world and when he saw that the church was deserted, he began to live there constantly in order to repair it. He heard that the Angels often visited it, so that it was called Saint Mary of the Angels, and he decided to stay there permanently out of reverence for the angels and love for the Mother of Christ."

Who doesn't love Saint Francis!?
The world has been blessed by God with so many heavenly gifts and blessings through St. Francis, he reaches through time to so many from his love and care of the poor and forgotten;
Love!
Unconditional love,
Open hearted love,
Merciful love,
Self sacrificing love,
And now to our time, where we will receive so many more blessings and lessons through Pope Francis...

Totally off topic,
I need a reality check:
Do all or any other mothers mentally match make their kids?
I catch myself and tell myself to stop silently meddling in my kids' futures.
I knew of a dad who vocalized his opinions in one situation, and was shushed by all around. Maybe they were telling him to leave it up to the moms...? I do remind myself to pray for those special someones.

Alien sighting? electric flower?

I picked up a floating pool light at Walmart. It helps encourage night swimming when the water is a little more refreshing and I don't have to worry with sunscreen.

Looking forward to a family party celebrating one sister turning 50, a brother in law turning 60 and my mom turning 75. We have hopes all of my parents' 18 grandchildren and the married (or soon to be married??) additions are all in the same place a one time. It has never happened before.
We will try to capture a photo of this event of all 31? of us, and all behave, open their eyes, and stop talking for one miraculous picture.  Expecting lots of outtakes.

Lots of Americans watch Duck Dynasty and so many others say they just don't get it.
Maybe seeing ordinary life of an extended family living their Christian values is refreshing, and so different from any other contrived programming on tv. This video was shared on Facebook and made me like this couple more.
