Weekend Journal

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...cool temps, sunny.

I am praying for..all the hard working mommies, a productive Lent, our Holy Father's final week, and the coming conclave and for a renewal of the American dream among native born Americans.

I am thankful...for all the graces and gifts I take for granted. And for a hard working husband who loves me.

I am creating...note cards: a good use for Lilly's finger painting artwork.

I am going...to celebrate a birthday of an 8 year old girl.

I am wondering...where this cold came from that has Lilly yelling and kicking in her sleep, at the intervals of the right length for me to fall back asleep just before the next wave hits.

I am reading.. Daugherty's Magna Charta, several books on Leonardo da Vinci with the kids, and for me, I just finished To Be Sung Underwater by Thomas McNeal. I didn't put it down, real characters, more racy than my usual read, but a good fiction to jump into.

I am thinking....about how happy, blessed and fortunate my life has been since I married my high school sweetheart. The book I finished was filled with regret of life's choices over what could have been.

One of my favorite things... are blog links ups. I have picked up many good book recommendations, a good laugh, other insights by the bloggers who link up on Jen's Conversion Diary 7 Friday Quick Takes.
I also like Leila's (and her daughters'){p,f,h,r} and recently Clan Donaldson's photography lessons on Thursday.

I am watching...nothing, Downton's over.

I am hoping...the kids learn a  little friendly competition. I refreshed the little kids board games cabinet. They need to practice to learn: you don't always have to win, sometimes luck is in the draw, the time together is what is important, it's never ok to cheat. And their mom is stealthy at Battleship placement.

I am pondering...why a raccoon is out during the middle of the day, could it be treed by the dogs and doesn't have anywhere to go, or could it be rabies? At least it is high up in the tree. Euly's eyesight sure is keen.

he's looking down at us

A favorite quote/verse/prayer for today...from Molly's history book exert from Cato's Letters:
"Without freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom,
and no such thing as public liberty, without freedom of speech."

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Doctor for Molly, scouts, park days, regular class schedule. Nothing too exciting except Craig's weekend should be celebrated as his birthday weekend, and there is a chance Max may come home after a bunch of midterms.

Something that made me happy...Lilly snuggled reading poetry with me.

A peek into my day...Peek A Boo Lilly
