~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

Every Thursday, at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

My little girls spent some time with me at the zoo(some pics here).
For some reason or a random memory, they were convinced there were dolphins at our zoo, so we had fun searching, but no, no dolphins.
They did enjoy the jellyfish.

My happy, sunny spot with my favorite lamp, favorite chair, stacked with books the girls will have me read, and a basket overflowing with a few projects in process.

funny/but really more "sweet"
Euly decided to welcome her dad home from his business trip with dinner waiting for him. He was touched and greatly appreciated her welcome home.

"To my Love'd Dad, Love ya, Love, Euly

This flu season has been very rough around here. We made a meal to share with a family who was hit with it all at the same time, some with pneumonia.

This is my husband's Jadra with my addition of venison sausage.
It is great meatless for a Friday meal, satisfying.
My husband very much approved of the venison addition.

Lebanese Jadra recipe:

1 c. lentils
1/2 cup rice
1/2 c. olive oil
1 large onion
1 tsp. salt
(I also sprinkled mine with a dash of allspice and coriander)
Wash lentils. Cover with 5 cups water. Add salt and cook for 30 minutes. Add rice. Peel and cut onions. Saute' in oil until transparent, and turning brown. Add to lentil and rice mixture. Cook for 20 or 30 minutes or until thick. Be sure to use slow fire. Serves 5.
I cooked sausage separately and added at end.
It feeds my family of 8 (including some smallish appetites).

  1. I hope everyone is mending from the flu, how nice to share a meal with a family! Your recipe sounds wonderful!

  2. Awww; the love note on napkin - so sweet.
Your recipe looks tasty, thank you for sharing it!
