We served chicken a la king in cressant crowns, using basically this recipe (minus mushrooms and I pureed the veggies for picky eaters). It was a hit. I was given the compliment that we were the best cooks ever.
We also made sugar cookie hearts with crown of thorns. Crown cupcakes with Christ the King images adornments, crackers with Brie topped with jewels: dried cranberries. In honor of thanksgiving we made fruit cornucopia with whipped cream cream, complimented by our hostess's cinnamon tea. We brought purple flowers for tradition in honor of the royalty of Christ.
The girls decided to recite a poem together in honor of hosting the tea, a sweet tandem recitation.
A Christmas Carol
By G. K. Chesterton
The Christ child lay on Mary's lap,
His hair was like a light.
O weary, weary were the world,
But here is all aright.
The Christ child lay on Mary's breast
His hair was like a star.
O stern and cunning are the kings,
But here the true hearts are.
The Christ child lay on Mary's heart,
His hair was like a fire.
O weary, weary is the world,
But here the worlds desire.
The Christ child stood on Mary's knee,
His hair was like a crown,
And all the flowers looked up at Him,
And all the stars looked down.
