{pretty, happy, funny, real}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~

Happy Independence Day!
Just a quiet day celebrating the holiday at home with our family.

We had a quiet celebration our country's 236th birthday, my favorite kind.
It included a little time cooling off in the pool
and eating food cookout out on the grill.

Seven years ago, I fell asleep watching fireworks the night before Cc was born.. with everyone home on the fourth, we celebrated a little birthday happiness with her.

Saving fireworks for the night, they decided to shoot off the stomp rocket. It didn't take long for them to take aim at me.

They enlisted help, but they missed - I thought it was funny to watch them try.

To the younger kids, poppers are just as much fun as the big fireworks are for the older kids.

don't let the calm smile fool you, this little one was quite moved and sometimes frightened by the fireworks going off in the neighborhood behind us.
Fireworks are scary to dogs and two year olds.
The neighbors behind us have been shooting off big sounding fireworks for many days. Little Miss has the same reaction - scared face!
I tell her, it's just fireworks, and fireworks go BOOM.
She repeats "Fireworks go Boom?"
over and over.
It did sound like we imagined canons and gun shots going off surrounding the house well into the night.

God Bless America!
